The Rainy Day

On a rainy day, the last thing you may want to do is go outside to shoot photos. Well, at least, this is what most people think. I personally enjoy taking a walk when it’s rainy! I could not explain why, really, I don’t feel moody or anything, I simply like when it’s a little bit wet – obviously I don’t head outdoors in the pouring rain. Anyways, I guess rain has good effects on me. I love hearing the drops falling on the rooftops, the smell of wet ground. I think rain calms me somehow, I feel more peaceful when it’s raining. Strange, right?

I took a few photos this morning. And guess what, it was raining! I tried my best to take great pictures of this unique natural wonder. I also came across a poem from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. It is entitled The Rainy Day. It is a beautiful poem. It literally “wowed” my heart when I read it! I have thought it would be nice to bring it together with the above photo gallery.

The day is cold, and dark, and dreary;
It rains, and the wind is never weary;
The vine still clings to the mouldering wall,
But at every gust the dead leaves fall,
And the day is dark and dreary.

My life is cold, and dark, and dreary;
It rains, and the wind is never weary;
My thoughts still cling to the mouldering past,
But the hopes of youth fall thick in the blast,
And the days are dark and dreary.

Be still, sad heart, and cease repining;
Behind the clouds is the sun still shining;
Thy fate is the common fate of all,
Into each life some rain must fall,
Some days must be dark and dreary.
