It has been a month since we arrived in Montréal and this city truly is a blast! I have so many photo albums and ideas in cold storage but for now let us focus on Les FrancoFolies de Montréal, which is probably the biggest music festival in the French-speaking world. Founded in 1989, Les FrancoFolies de Montréal features a wide array of music trends. Each year, over 1,000 songwriters, composers and musicians from a dozen countries get involved and perform at the festival. As you may already know, Montréal is one of the biggest cities in North America, and honestly, it is the place to let loose in summer! If you are looking forward to celebrating good music and life, Montréal is where you need to go (well, do not give it a try in winter…). Plus, most concerts are entirely free there!
This year’s participating artists were extremely good and talented. They are all world-renowned or soon will be. Stefie Shock, Dumas, Ariane Moffatt, Alpha Blondy & The Solar System did put the stage on fire! There is one concert I preferred though: I did not know Ariane Moffatt very well until then but I think she did a great job over there. She is indulging, she is entertaining, she is fun and she is an amazing musician. I like her music because it combines elements of electronica, jazz, folk, and pop. What? Ariane Moffatt is a complete stranger to you? Above are some pictures of the lady performing at the Bell Centre.
